JEE Advanced Counselling 2018 | Seat Allotment and Admission Process

JoSAA will start the registration process for the counseling and seat allotment for JEE Advanced 2018 from June 15 onwards. It is to be noted that JEE Advanced counseling and seat allotment 2018 will be conducted in seven consecutive rounds. All the candidates who have successfully qualified in the JEE Advanced examination can participate in the counselling process.

The JEE Advanced 2018 exam was conducted on May 20, 2018. Around 1.6 lakhs out of the 2.2 lakh candidates selected appeared for the exam. The JEE Advanced Result 2018 was declared on June 10, 2018.

How to register for JEE Advanced 2018 counselling

  • Log on to the official website, jeeadv.nic.in
  • Log in using the JEE Main 2018 roll number and password
  • Fill the choices as per your preference
  • Lock your choices (If you do not lock your choices then the last saved choices will be locked automatically)
  • Download the "Provisional Seat Allotment letter" and e-challan

JEE Advanced Counselling and Seat Allotment Procedure

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2018 has been set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) to manage and regulate the joint seat allocation for admissions to 97 institutes for the academic year 2018-19. This includes 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 20 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). Admission to all the academic programs offered by these institutes will be made through a single platform. Students clearing the cut off marks will be eligible and they will have to follow the following 5 steps for counselling and seat allotment procedure:

JEE Advanced Counselling | Step 1: Registration

Candidates need to go on the official website and register themselves using their IIT enrolment number and password. The registration is compulsory and free of cost.

JEE Advanced Counselling | Step 2: Choice Filling

Candidates will be asked to select the colleges through which they want to complete their graduation. The colleges should be selected in the order of priority and preference. The most preferred college should be selected first and the least preferred option should be the last one on the list.

JEE Advanced Counselling | Step 3: Provisional Offer Letter & Confirmation Process

Once the student has given their choices, JOSAA will allot the candidate a college depending on his ranks.

JEE Advanced Counselling | Step 4: Document Verification

The following documents would be required for JEE Advanced Counselling verification when the student goes for physical verification:

  • JEE Advanced Provisional Seat Allocation Letter
  • JEE Advanced Rank Card
  • 10th & 12th Marksheet
  • JEE Advanced Counselling Form
  • 2 Passport Size Photos
  • JEE Advanced 2018 Admit Card
  • Category Certificate, if any
  • Medical Fitness Certificate

About IIT JEE Advanced exam 2018

The JEE advanced exam was held on May 20, 2018, after the JEE mains results declared in April this year. Over 1, 60,000 students appeared for the JEE Advanced exam this year. Reports, however, suggest that a much lesser number of students appeared for the examination. The JEE Advanced is conducted for admissions in 23 IITs and NITs across the country.
