Tips to Prepare for NATA 2017 Exam: How to Prepare

National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is a national level entrance exam conducted by National Institute of Advanced studies in Architecture, New Delhi every year. Most the state and central level universities accept its score for admissions in to architecture courses offered. NATA 2017 is scheduled on 16th April 2017.

NATA 2017 has two papers Paper – I and Paper – II both conducted in offline mode on 16th April 2017. Paper – I is General Aptitude and Mathematics Test and Paper – II is Drawing Test each paper is for 90 minutes of duration.

Paper – I General Aptitude and Mathematics: 120 marks

Paper – I is involved with all the aptitude questions and mathematical calculations. It will have 60 questions (40 question Aptitude and 20 questions Mathematics) each 2 marks based on observation, creativity, perception, imagination which are all essential for architecture. These questions test the architectural awareness of the candidates. It will have questions on Logical Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Architectural Aptitude, Imaginative comprehension, expression and Mathematics.

Paper – II NATA Drawing: 80 Marks

In Paper – II candidates will be two questions each 40 marks and are asked to draw 2D/3D theme sketches. This Paper – II is for testing the visualization, symmetry and sketching ability of the candidate.

How to prepare for NATA 2017

1) Candidates need to get the thorough idea about the NATA entrance examination and what is it all about.

2) Candidates need to go through the NATA 2017 syllabus and make a suitable preparation schedule.

3) List out the important topics and avoid touching the unnecessary stuff.

4) Find a peaceful space to study and keep all the electronic gadgets like mobiles, tabs, laptops & other stuff which can cause distractions away.

5) Candidates need to practice daily the drawing. It helps the candidate in fast visualizations and imaginations. Practice drawing on computer as well to be comfortable with mouse or touchpad.

6) Allocate time for every topic whether it is Paper – I or Paper – II.

7) Candidates are advised to practice past papers which can help them in time management.

8) Candidates can find mock test paper as it will help the candidate to get the idea about the structure of the question paper and the type of questions to be asked in the exam.

9) By repeated practice candidate can acquire quick thinking and can manage the time given efficiently.

10) Never waste the time on a single question and move on to the next question.

11) Paper - I covers many topics such as Architectural Awareness, Logical Reasoning, Imaginative Comprehension and Expression, Creativity, Imagination, Observation, etc.

12) Paper – II mainly focus on testing the technical and deep knowledge of sketching like effects of light and shadows, knowledge of scales and idea about proportion, etc.

13) Candidate must start the drawing practice in steps i.e. with simple structures to complex structures.

14) Candidate must have good perception with excellent creative and imaginative thinking with innovative ideas.

15) Candidates must be updates regarding architecture and learn about the national and international architectures of prominence.
