The Indian
Navy is the naval branch of the armed forces of India. It currently has
approximately 55,000 personnel on active duty, including 5,000 members of the
naval aviation branch and 2,000 marine commandos, making it the world's fifth
largest navy. The Indian Navy currently operates more than 155 vessels,
including the INS Viraat, the only aircraft carrier in Asia-Pacific Region along

Engineering Branch (E): Candidates can join in the
Naval Architecture Cadre of the Engineering Branch. The Indian navy today
employs the largest pool of trained Naval Architects in India. A Naval architect
is involved in design, construction, quality control, repair and new

Electrical Branch (L):
A warship is a mini floating city with an integral power generation and
distribution system. In addition, complex missile systems, underwater weapons,
radars and radio communication equipment form major part of a warship’s
equipment. A majority of these are either computer-based or computer aided and
incorporate the latest trends in electronics engineering. For a ship to be able
to fight effectively, all this equipment must be kept working at peak
efficiency. Electrical Officers have this responsibility and other challenging
tasks. To sharpen the skills navy offers excellent opportunities for
post-graduate courses in India/abroad to the deserving candidates.

Procedure:
The candidates will be called for Service Selection
board interviews according to their cadre and their performance in BE/BTECH
Degree.
Stage -1: Test consisting of officer
intelligence rating test(OI and R test)followed by Picture perfection and
Discussion test.
Stage-2 : Psychological testing, Group
task, Group discussion and personal interview.
Candidate who clears all the
above tests will be appointed for training.
The selected candidates will be
appointed in the rank of Sub- Lieutenant on the date decided by IHQ-MoD(Navy).
The candidates will be granted Short Service Commission (SSC). The candidates
will be subject to an initial probationary period which will commence from the
date of grant of the rank of Sub-Lieutenant and will terminate after two years
from the date of their reporting to the Indian Naval Academy. During the period
from date of appointment to reporting for training, the individual will be
entitled to half the basic pay of the rank, which will be payable as a lump-sum
stipend at the time of joining Indian Naval Academy for training. The tenure of
SSC officers will be for a period of 10 yrs, extendable by a further period of
04 yrs subject to service requirements and performance/willingness of the
candidates. The Candidates who fail to qualify at the final graduation
(aggregate 60%) will be discharged from service without any benefits.
DUTIES OF TECHNICAL
OFFICER
- Tech(GS)
Branch:Technical officers is to maintain ships,aircrafts and their
associated weapons/sensors systems.
- Submarine cadre:
As a submarine technical officer you will be responsible to run
maintain modern submarines and its weapon systems.
- Naval Architecture
cadre:Naval Architects specialize in warship and submarine
constructions and also involves in design, construction, quality control and new
construction work of naval vessels.
Course
commences from the month of July.
Permanent Commission:
Indian navy Academy offers Permanent commission jobs in the education
branch of Indian navy.
Eligibility: A bachelor’s degree in
any one of the following streams

Selection Procedure:
Candidates will be called for Service selection board

starts in the month of july.
A student holding a bachelor's
degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Technology Engineering could also join the
Merchant navy as a Engine Cadet/ Fifth Engineer/ Junior Engineer. Direct entry
Deck Cadets are required to undergo basic pre-sea training arranged by the
recruiting company itself and the direct entry engineering cadets are preferred
to do a Pre-sea course of 9 months duration in Marine Engineering conducted by
the MERI.

shortlisted candidates are called for Preliminary Selection (PSB) as per their

- The PSB consists of Mental
Ability Test as well as interview

PSB are called for Final Selection Board (FSB) at New Delhi.
