CAT - Common Admission Test
CAT is Conducted by one of the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) every year, CAT is the test conducted in India and is an important component for selecting students into their business management programs. Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation, Verbal Ability and Logic Reasoning are the skills tested in the student through CAT. Recently Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) have also joined the list of institutes where CAT is a pre requisite for admission in various management programmes offered by them.
A candidate can appear for the CAT exam only once in the 20 day test window conducted every year during the months of October and November. The CAT exam will have 2 sections with 30 questions each and the total test time is 2 hours and 35 minutes. Every correct answer adds 3 points to your score board where as a negative answer slashes off one point from the score.
Eligibility Criteria for CAT :
1.Candidates with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in the bachelor’s degree are only eligible for CAT .
2.Candidates awaiting results or appearing for the final year Bachelor’s degree exam are also eligible for CAT .
CAT Syllabus:
There is no particular and predefined syllabus for CAT exam and as mentioned above students will be tested in the areas of Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation, Verbal ability and Logic Reasoning.
Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation comes under one section, whereas Verbal Ability and Logic Reasoning form the second section, the two sections of CAT exam.
