Top Medical Colleges in Assam State – Initiatives of the Government of Assam:

Assam Government planned to establish 24 new Medical Colleges in the next five (5) years in their endeavour to provide enhanced healthcare and availability of more doctors for the service of the people of Assam State.  Once these additional Medical Colleges are completed and admissions are commenced, aspiring students will get an additional 2700 MBBS seats and significantly enhance the opportunity for Medical Education in Assam.

Another reason for such a drastic step taken by Assam Government is to stem the outflow of youth seeking medical education outside Assam due to uncertainty of admission to meritorious students due to a limited number of seats as of now.

Admissions to 3 (three) new Medical Colleges shall commence from the Academic Year 2023/24 at Nalbari Medical College and Hospital, Nagaon Medical College and Hospital, and Kokrajhar Medical College and Hospital.
