KADAPA: Assistant Director of Disabled Welfare K. Bhaskara Reddy disbursed scholarship cheques for Rs. 85,500 granted by the federation to 23 meritorious visually impaired students at the A.P. Federation of the Blind office at Nehru Nagar here on Sunday.
Bhaskara Reddy said the Government was implementing welfare schemes for the visually impaired persons. Executive member of the National Federation of the Blind, New Delhi, Y. Sriramulu exhorted visually impaired students to optimally utilise scholarships, housing loans and educational loans and other facilities. NFB granted maximum number of 23 scholarships out of 42 applicants in Kadapa district.
NFB State unit secretary A. Narayana Reddy assured to strive for the construction of an own building for APFB Kadapa unit.
Nearly Rs. 7 lakhs was disbursed as scholarships to visually impaired in the district in the last five years, he said. Federation secretary P. Ramanjaneyulu, other office-bearers and students participated.
