CAT 2017- Almost 2.31 lakh applications received for 4,500 seats

More than 50 candidates will compete for a solitary IIM seat, with almost 2.31 lakh applicants enlisting during the current year's Common Admission Test (CAT) on November 26.

Almost 4,500 seats are on offer under the Post-Graduate Programs (PGP) offered by the 20 Indian Institutes of Management for the 2018 session, incorporating around 450 seats in IIM Calcutta.

The CAT 2017 exam will be held in 140 cities all over the Nation. IIM Lucknow will lead the current year's CAT. "The registration closed last night. IIM have roughly 2.31 lakh applications," CAT convenor Neeraj Dwivedi revealed to The Telegraph. The quantity of enrolled applicants was 2.32 lakh in 2016, 2.18 lakh in 2015, 1.95 lakh in 2014 and almost 2.41 lakh in 2010.

The IIMs have done a couple of changes in the exam this year. Not at all like just numerous decision inquiries in the earlier years, may a few inquiries in each segment not be of that type this year. Understudies have to type direct answers on the screen in the computerised test (online test).

The duration of the test will be 180 minutes. There will be three sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Ability.

The six older institutes - such as IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, IIM Indore and IIM Kozhikode - offer 400 to 450 PGP seats each and the seven IIMs opened in 2008-09 around 120 seats each.
