KEAM 2017 Eligibility Criteria

KEAM 2017 is a common entrance test in Kerala conducted by Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala for admissions into the Engineering, Agriculture and Medical courses offered by the various colleges in the Kerala state. The number of students participate in KEAM every year exceeds one lakh fifty thousand. KEAM 2017 online applications start from 1st February 2017.

KEAM 2017 Eligibility Criteria:

1) Candidate must be Indian citizen or Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).

2) Nativity:

i) Keralite: The candidates whose origin is in Kerala and with the domicile certificate are considered as Keralite. If the parents of the candidate are the employee of All India Services in Kerala, they are considered as Keralite.

ii) Non-Keralite – I: Candidates whose origin is not Kerala but satisfy the below points come under Non-Keralite – I.

a) Candidates who pass their qualifying examination from Kerala.

b) Candidates whose parents are working in Kerala under defense and central government.

c) Candidates whose parents are working or worked for 2 years of time in Kerala government.

d) Candidates who spent their 5 years of their study (8th class to 12th class) in Kerala continuously come under this category.

Note: Candidates of Non-Keralite – I are consider for Merit List but they cannot claim any reservation.

iii) Non-Keralite – II: Candidates who do not fall under the above two categories comes under the Non-Keralite – II category.

a) Candidates who come under this category are eligible to apply for admission to management quota seats which are offered by the self financing colleges which are controlled by the government.

b) Candidates can also apply for engineering and architecture courses government and management quota seats of private self financing colleges.

3) Age of the candidate must be 17 years or above as of 31st December 2017. No upper age limit.

4) Candidates must pass class XII or its equivalent examination.

For Engineering Courses:

i) Candidate must secure at least 50% of marks in Mathematics subject individually and 50% of marks on overall subjects for general candidates in qualifying examination.

ii) For reserved categories, it is reduced to 50% of marks in Mathematics subject individually and 50% of marks on overall subjects.

For Medical Courses:

i) For MBBS, BDS, and BSMS: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala, or examinations recognised equivalent there to, with 50% marks in Biology / Biotechnology separately, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology put together, are eligible. In the absence of Biology, Biotechnology will be considered as a subject for academic eligibility. For candidates belonging to SC/ST categories need 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology put together in the qualifying examination.

Note: Only those candidates who qualify in NEET-UG and satisfying the nativity conditions mentioned in the prospectus shall be considered for admission to MBBS/BDS courses.

ii) For admission to BAMS/ BHMS courses: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala, or examinations recognised equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology separately, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together, are eligible. Biotechnology will not be considered as a subject for academic eligibility.

iii) For admission to BUMS course: Candidates seeking admission to main Kamil-E-Tib-Wa-Jarahat (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery-BUMS) course must have passed Intermediate (10+2) or its equivalent examination with 50% aggregate marks in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology and 50% marks in Biology separately and the candidate should have passed

(a) 10th standard with Urdu or Arabic or Persian language as a subject or clear the test of Urdu in the Entrance Examination conducted by the University or Board or Registered Society authorized by the Government to conduct such examination; or

(b) pre-Tib examination of one year duration.

(iv) For admission to B.Sc.(Hons.)Agri., B.Sc.(Hons) Forestry, BFSc courses: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala, or examinations recognised equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biologyseparately, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together, are eligible. Biotechnology will not be considered as a subject for academic eligibility.

(v) For admission to BVSc. & AH Course: Candidates should have secured not less than 50% aggregate marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology for the qualifying examination, in addition to the condition as stipulated in clause 6.2.1(a)(iv) as per regulation 5 of Minimum standards of Veterinary Education Degree Course (BVSc & AH) Regulation, 1993. Relaxation in marks is permissible as stipulated in clause 6.2.4.

(vi) Candidates who have passed the BSc Degree (Three year course) examination with Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany or Biotechnology as Main, and any one or two of the above subjects as Subsidiaries, with 50% marks for Main & Subsidiaries taken together, subject to the condition that they have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or examinations recognised as equivalent thereto with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects are eligible for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS and BSMS courses.

For Architecture course:

Minimum academic eligibility for admission to B. Arch.:

i) 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognised Board with Mathematics as a subject of study by securing 50% marks in aggregate. OR

ii) 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognised by Central/State Governments with 50% aggregate marks with Mathematics as one of the subject of examination. OR

iii) International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling, with not less than 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination.

iv) In addition to the academic eligibility prescribed only those candidates who score the minimum eligibility marks on National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) 2017 will be considered for admission to B.Arch. Course. There is no relaxation in the minimum passing score of NATA to any category of candidate. The candidates are advised to qualify in NATA on or before 10.06.2017.

v) There is no provision for lateral admission to the second year or at any stage during the 5 year course in Architecture.

5) Candidates who are appearing for the qualifying exam are also eligible, provided they have to submit the pass certificate with at least above mentioned percentage.
