In the year 1981, when keyes High School for girls completed 100 year, it was thought fitting to establish a Degree College for Women to mark the years of achievement. The journey started with a dream of educating girl child. It is pertinent here to know the history of one of the oldest Educational Institutions in Secunderabad. In 1881, Shri Venu Gopal Pillai started Girls Patashala as a Primary School conducting classes in five, six different private homes in Secunderabad. His main objective was to “equip girls of our society with knowledge to fight against any kind of atrocity which might come their way”. He used to go door – to – door to pick up students in a bullock cart and bring them to school.Dewan Bahadur Padmarao Mudaliar strived to acquire land to build a permanent structure. Brigadier – General Sir Terence Humphrey Keyes, the then BritishResident Officer to the Nizam State helped to acquire land. The school has been named Keyes Dewan Bahadur Padmarao Mudaliar served as the first Secretary of Keyes High School for Girls, and Ms. H.M Davis was the first Head Mistress. The School proliferated into an eminent institution over the years and marched towards its centenary year.  To commemorate the centenary celebrations of Keyes High School and to follow the vision of Shri.Padmarao Mudaliar to expand the institution from KG TO PG, foundation was laid for the Degree College. Mrs. Bhagyalaxmi Natarajan was the Founding – Member, who set up this Degree College, named after Dewan Bahadur Padmarao Mudaliar, to pay tribute to the chief architect and visionary of Keyes Education Society. Mrs. Bhagyalaxmi Natarajan’s prime concern was to provide Higher Education to women. Smt. Samyuktha Bullayiah served as the first President, Mrs. Bhagyalaxmi Natarajan was the first Hon. Secretary. The first Principal was Dr. Puranik, a retired Principal of Nizam College of Osmania University. The college was inaugurated by T. Anjaiah, the then Chief-Minister of Andhra Pradesh in 1981.
