St. Joseph’s College for Women (Autonomous), affiliated to Andhra University, the first Women’s college in north coastal Andhra Pradesh, with its unique ethos of trained resourcefulness and excellence has been creating generations of empowered women who are spread all over the world making their presence felt in the society.
The college was founded in July 1958 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Annecy in response to the local need for a Women’s college in the city of Visakhapatnam.
Government (Visakha) Degree College for Women (Autonomous), located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, is a public institution dedicated to higher education for women. It is known for its "great environment" and hostel facilities. The college is affiliated with Andhra University and was granted autonomous status by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2005–06
