Sir Malladi Satya Lingam Naicker, an illiterate fisherman but a great humanist, donated Rs. 8 lakhs towards starting Educational Institutions and spreading vedic culture and literature in 1912. A Trust consisting of eminent personalities was constituted in 1915 and owing to their untiring efforts; the MSN Charities has now grown into a huge educational complex housing a Vedapatasala, an elementary school, a Junior college and a Degree college. The M.S.N. Degree College was started in 1971 with B.Com. courses in the initial years. The B.A courses were added in 1973, The College became a full-fledged one when the B.Sc. courses were introduced in 1984. In tune with the radical changes in the curriculum, the college, under the benevolent Guidance of the Trust and the Endowment Department, has made a mark as a pioneering educational institution by bagging university First Ranks in Arts, Commerce and Sciences over the years. In 1994, the college Introduced Fisheries courses in science syllabus; while in 1998 – 99, new courses like computers were added to the B.com syllabus; To facilitate computer education, the management came forward with liberal grants for the purchase of computers and introduction of INTERNET.
