In 1982, BLDEA established Basaveshwar Arts & Commerce College in Basavana Bagewadi, the birthplace of His Holiness Jagadguru Shri Basaveshwara, a great social reformer and a revolutionary saint of the 12th Century. It is 42 km away from Vjayapura, a district known for the world-famous historical monument Gol Gumbaz. The aim of starting the institution was to offer education to the oppressed, disadvantaged and rural community of Basavana Bagewadi. Most of the students studying in this college hail from a poor background and mainly depend on agriculture.
