BRIEF HISTORY OF THE COLLEGE Having realized the significance and necessity of Higher Education for the rural poor of Purushottampur and its periphery a few education-loving, generous and philanthropic people of the locality, dreamt of providing higher education to the children of the have-nots as well as the girl students of the conservative families on their door step. Their dream had immense strength, their activities had the true spirit and honesty. Those young and spirited bunch of people under the selfless and inspiring leadership and guidance of Late Narayan Samantaray, involved themselves day in and day out, forgetting their own world and worries, for fulfilling their cherished desire of setting up a college. The dream came true, exactly on 13 August 1979. Around 5 kms away from the hill-temple of Tara Tarini, having named after the Goddesses, on the picturesque bank of holy Rushikulya, the college was established and it was officially inaugurated by Late Brundaban Nayak, the then MLA, Hinjili on the same date. By and by the efforts and endeavors of the Governing Body, headed by the founder President Late Narayan Samantaray the staff, the public as well as the young students paved the way for the growth and development of the institution.
