Located in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) is a state-funded university. Originally called the Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute, it was founded in 1887. In honor of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's mother, VJTI renamed itself Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute in 1997. The institute took on its current name on January 26, 1997. Although VJTI is an autonomous academic and administrative institution, it is connected to the University of Mumbai.
The Maharashtra government provides financial support to the institute. Owned by the Maharashtra State Government, VJTI is an independent institution situated in South Mumbai. It provides certificate, degree, post-graduate, and doctorate degrees in engineering and technology.
