The institute is recognized by the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

LIET is affiliated with Osmania University and has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an 'A' grade. In 2021, the University Grants Commission (UGC) conferred autonomous status upon this institute, valid until 2032.
