P.K.R. Arts College for Women is an independent arts and science institution that is connected to Bharathiar University. Since 1994, it has been run by the Dhandapani Rural Charitable Trust, which was established with the goal of empowering rural women. The college is situated in a lovely area with green fields and hillocks all around, creating a calm and comfortable learning environment. The institution honors the late Thiru Kalimudhaliar, who had the admirable goal of teaching the general public, in his eternal memory.

The college received "A" accreditation from NAAC in 2013 and was re-accredited with the same grade in 2018. Additionally, in 2017, the UGC received an Autonomous Status. The college has received Best NSS Programme officer Award, Best NSS Unit Award, Best NSS Volunteer Award and Best Magazine Award.

The college offers 12 undergraduate, 8 postgraduate, 7 M.Phil., and 6 Ph.D. research programs. Additionally, it provides MBA and MCA courses approved by AICTE, New Delhi5.
