The Dhemaji Law College situated at District head quarter of Dhemaji which is socio-economically and educationally very backward and flood porne area of Assam. The total population of the District is more than 7,00,000 (Seven Lakh).It is to be noted that there is no any Legal Education Centre in the entire district of Dhemaji including the Dhakuakhana Sub-Division of Lakhimpur District attached to Dhemaji District for which a large number of intending students have been deprived from pursuing Legal Education. The college serves the purpose of the intending students not only of 2 (two) Sub-Division i.e. Dhemaji, Jonai but also the nearby Dhakuakhana Sub-Division of Lakhimpur District as well as the Upper and Lower Subanshiri District of Arunachal Pradesh. The college has already received the Governmeent N.O.C. and procured 18 (eighteen) Bighas of land and a leased building for the college and also fulfilled the minimum requirements for the college. Moreover, the Dibrugarh University has accorded permission/affiliation vide order No. DD/RG/DCDC/DL/Perm/2017-18/10.017 Dtd. 22/12/2017. The Bar Council of India has also accorded permission for LL.B. Course vide order No. BCI:D:748/2018(LE/Std. 2/3.6.2018) Dtd. 27.06.2018.
