Wilson College, Mumbai, founded in 1832 by Scottish missionary Rev. John Wilson, is one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher learning in India. Originally started as Ambroli English School in Girgaum, it evolved into a full-fledged collegiate institution by 1836. Managed by the John Wilson Education Society since 1963, the college is a Christian minority institution associated with the Church of North India but welcomes students from all communities.
