About Nangelil Ayurved College, Nangelil:

Starting of the Nangelil Ayurveda Medical College under the aegis of Nangelil Charitable Trust (Reg.No.SR/P/3-2001) in 2002 was a milestone in the growth of the Trust considering the facilities, Govt of Kerala had accorded sanction and approval to start the Ayurveda and conducts Ayurveda Acharya (BAMS) 51/2 year course envisaged and approved by the NCISM New Delhi. This is fully under the governance of the board of directors of the trust and Mr.M.E.Sasi is the president of the Trust. The College was initially affiliated to M G University and later in 2010 got affiliated to the Kerala University for Health Sciences. Admission procedures are strictly as per the guidelines of the Govt of Kerala stipulated time to time. Currently the admission capacity is 60 per year out of which 100% will be through NEET entrance examination. Currently 300 students are studying in this institution and 60 doing HouseSurgency (internship). Prof.Dr.Reji M Varghese MD (Ay), the principal is an experienced academician, researcher, clinician and administrator retired from Government Ayurveda CollegeThe vision is to become a global center of excellence in Ayurveda Medical education healthcare. The mission is to define its commitment to encourage its efficiency and high professional standard in teaching, quality health care and research. The Number of regular faculty members in our institution is 35. (Professors-11/ Associate Prof.-15/ Assistant Prof.-7/ Yoga Instructor-1/ Bio Statistician-1) Most of the faculties have their works published in various Journals and Publications, and also attend as Resource Person in Seminars. The office of the principal looks after the whole sections in an excellent manner.

Ayurveda is a medical system and living style, originated in Indian subcontinent and is flourishing for the past 5000 years or more, providing health care to the majority of Indian Population. At present the system is proliferating throughout the world. The global awareness of Ayurveda is growing gradually and there is high global demand for services of Ayurveda. Ayurvedic Medicines command National and International markets. The demand for Ayurveda graduates is ever growing domestically and internationally.

Ayurveda is a scientific system of medicine based on tradition and Indian philosophy. The philosophy of Ayurveda is to lead a long, happy and benevolent life without miseries. For this Ayurveda uses drugs, diet and regulate activities. Ayurveda has two major fields, the preventive field and curative field.

Ayurveda believes that the health of the healthy can be bettered and positive health could be attained. Ayurveda is a comapartively safe system of medicine as adverse reactions and side effects are very rare in the case of Ayurveda medicines. There are various medical and surgical procedures in Ayurveda. Massage, oiling, fomentation, enemata etc., are medical procedures. Application of alkaline thread (in fistula and piles), bloodletting, thermal cauterization etc. are surgical procedures.
