The Board of Technical Education in Uttarakhand has the authority power to run and oversee the polytechnic colleges and Industrial Training Institutes in all corners of the state. This is the only board that runs the administration in the different areas. The Board of Technical Education was constituted under the act No. 27 in the year 2003.
To obtain the governmental approval, a bill was introduced in the State Legislative Assembly of Uttarakhand. The Assembly granted it approval as the Uttarakhand Board of Technical Education in 2003. The Governor of the state also gave a green signal for its approval on 13 Janauary 2004.
Applicants who want to get enrolled at the university need to first appear at the entrance examination for polytechnic (JEEP). The entrance test is conducted by the technical education board itself. For Diploma Level courses, admission takes place after qualifying the state-level joint test.
