Intended to impart education to both the Odias and non-Odias of Odisha-Andhra, this College started drawing its student strength from a wide zone which included Surala-Sumandi, Ichhapur, Kuligaon-Kotilingi belt, B.Nuagaon, Jayantipur, Jarada, Tumba, Patrapur, Kelua, Surangi, Khariaguda etc. Besides, the students from the detached Odia speaking territories of Manjusha, Tarala, Jalantara etc. found a homely atmosphere in this academic agency. As the first College in the Chikiti Constituency, this institution also acted as a motive force for the spread of education in rural Odisha.Today, S.B.P. Mahavidyalaya stands as an index of the sincerity and devotion of the local people and shall ever remain an emblem of sacrifice of a considerable dimension, exemplifying the inherent merit of those who think in terms of the well being of society.
