The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal is located at Lamphelpat, Imphal, within the state of Manipur. As a state in the northeastern part of India, Manipur is aptly described as "A jeweled land," nestled in a verdant corner of North East India. It was honored by Shri Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India, as the "Jewel of India."
The foundation stone for the first medical college in Manipur, named Manipur Medical College, was laid on May 22, 1972, by Shri B.K. Nehru, the then Governor of Manipur. RIMS Imphal offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses across various specializations and accepts entrance exams such as NEET UG, NEET PG, and TJEE.
