The College of Medicine & Sagore Dutta Hospital, located in Kamarhati, North 24 Parganas, on the outskirts of Kolkata, West Bengal, was established in 2010. This institution evolved from the Sagore Dutt Charitable Hospital and Dispensary, which had been serving the local community for nearly a century. Named after Sri Sagore Dutta, a jute merchant renowned for his philanthropic endeavors, the hospital was initially founded to provide healthcare to the socio-economically disadvantaged populations of the area. Recognizing the need to address the shortage of medical professionals in the region, the Government of West Bengal transformed this charitable hospital into a full-fledged medical college and hospital in 2010. The first batch of MBBS students commenced their studies in August 2011.
