The Himachal Pradesh government established the Career Point University, Hamirpur in 2012 according to Act No. 12, a project of the illustrious Career Point Group, which has been involved in the field of education since 1993. This institution is a member of AIU Delhi and has received approval from the UGC, NAAC, ARIIA, and the Government of India through the NIRF-MoE.
In August 2012, the University was formally opened by Prof. P.K. Dhumal, who was the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister at the time. It started operating the following year.
