The Institute was founded in 1998 under the name Department of Business Administration of NMAMIT, and in 2006 it was renamed as the Justice K. S. Hegde Institute of Management (JKSHIM). The renowned visionary who established the Nitte Group of Institutions is honoured by the name of this esteemed institution. The late Justice K. S. Hegde served as both a Speaker of the Loksabha and a former Supreme Court judge. The Institute is now a part of the Nitte (Deemed to be) University and provides a two-year full-time MBA program approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), NBA, and the AACSB have certified the JKSHIM, making it one of the very few institutions in India to hold this accreditation. In addition, it functions as a research centre for Nitte (Deemed to be) University, providing a PhD program. JKSHIM has gained extensive experience in delivering flawless quality management education over two decades. Additionally, the Institute has become increasingly proficient in delivering short-term programs that are specifically designed to meet the demands of the business. Cutting-edge technologies, including software, simulations, online learning tools, and learning management systems (LMS), are used on campus to assist students to remain ahead of the competition and improve their skills.

Bachelor's Degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 scheme with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (including languages) at Degree level.

PhD
|
The candidate shall possess a Master's Degree in Management from VTU or any other University with a minimum of 60% or equivalent Grade at Master's Degree examinations. However, a relaxation to the extent of 10% shall be allowed to SC/ST or any other category as notified by the Government of Karnataka from time to time OR candidate with a minimum of five years experience in teaching or research, subject to the approval of VTU.

Justice K S Hegde Institute of Management, Karnataka is a contemporary business school, the campus spans 45,000 sq ft and boasts a tranquil ambiance. Some of the amenities that JKSHIM offers are as follows:
Hostel- JKSHIM offers separate hostel buildings for men and women, with four blocks for girls and seven for boys. Each block is managed by a manager, equipped with beds, wardrobes, desks, chairs, and ceiling fans. The hostel serves vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and North and South Indian cuisine.
Transportation- Thirty-two buses are available to the college's staff and students from Karkala, Mangaluru, Udupi, Kundapur, Bantwal, and Belthangady. These bus services are used by about 900 students from different regions of the region to get to and from the College.
Health Care- Every student is eligible for free medical and dental care under the Medicare Scheme. There is a free medical center on campus with a licensed doctor and a registered nurse who can treat employees, students, and locals.
Bank and Post Office- The Institute features two Commercial Bank locations on campus, along with an ATM and a post office.
