The Army Institute of Law (AIL) was founded in July 1999 by the Indian Army under the auspices of the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) in Patiala. In July 2003, AIL relocated to Sector 68, Mohali. The Mohali Campus was officially opened on December 1, 2003, by H.E. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, then President of India.
Affiliated with Punjabi University, Patiala, and recognized by the Bar Council of India, the Institute has embraced 'Aspire & Achieve' as its guiding principle, establishing itself as a premier institution in legal education. Accredited with a 'B' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), AIL offers a five-year integrated BA.LLB program and a one-year LL.M course.
