Organising Institute for GATE 2023 is Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) - Kharagpur

GATE 2023 is an Entrance exam for postgraduate Engineering courses offered by IITs and several premier engineering colleges. Students who are in their final semester of engineering course or students who have passed the undergraduate course in engineering appear for GATE to go further for higher studies. The entrance test is a pathway for the students to get admissions in reputed colleges and universities to pursue their Master’s Degree. GATE 2023 entrance exam is conducted by seven zonal IITs and IISc on a rotational basis. GATE 2023 Exam Dates has been released. GATE 2023 exam is administered by IIT Kharagpur. The application process for GATE 2023 starts on 30th September 2022 and ends on 7st October 2022. GATE 2023 exam is scheduled to be conducted on the 4th, 5th 11th, and 13th Jan 2023.

GATE 2023: New Changes Introduced this Year

Geomatics Engineering (GE)

  • The Paper contains the General Aptitude (GA) section (15 Marks) as applicable for all papers of GATE 2023.
  • The rest of the Paper consists of two parts covering the syllabus: Part A (55 marks) and Part B (30 marks).
  • Part A is compulsory for all the candidates.
  • Part B contains two optional sections: Section I and Section II. Candidates have to choose any one of these during the examination. No separate score and ranking will be provided based on the selection of sections.

Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NM)

  • The Paper contains the General Aptitude (GA) section (15 Marks) as applicable for all papers of GATE 2023.
  • The rest of the Paper will have 85 marks covering the syllabus.

GATE 2023 Registration Procedure

1) To register for GATE 2023 entrance examination, candidates need the following

  • Valid e-mail address
  • Mobile Number

2) Students should note that only one person can register with one e-mail address.

3) Once registered, the candidate receives a GOAPS Enrolment ID.

 

Fill the GATE 2023 Application Form

1) Login using the GOAPS enrolment id and password

2) Fill the Application form with the required information and choose a city for the exam centre.

3) Choose the paper which the candidate intends to give the exam.

 4) Upload the necessary documents along with photograph and signature/thumb impression.

5) Pay the application fees as mentioned below by Debit Card/Net Banking/e-challan.

GATE 2023 Application Form Corrections

Candidates must fill the application carefully, the correction will not be allowed in any fields except exam city centre. Other details about GATE Application correction are given below:

  • Candidates can make the correction in the exam city from 3rd week of November 2023 with correction fee of Rs. 500.
  • Last year, the correction was done in Gender, Category and PwD status with Rs. 750 as correction fee.
  • The correction will be allowed in the fields like Name of the candidate, Date of Birth, Name of Parent / Guardian, Year of Qualifying Degree etc.
  • Apart from this, the institution has also provided correction facility in Name of the Candidate, Date of Birth, Name of Parent/Guardian, Qualifying Degree, Year of Qualifying Degree & Have you graduated in the above degree? by sending a request to officials along with document proof.

GATE 2023 Eligibility Criteria

1) Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology (after 10+2/Diploma/B.Sc) and those who are in final year can also apply.

2) Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture (5-year course) and those who are in the final year.

3) Bachelor’s Degree in Science (after 10+2/Diploma).

4) Master’s degree in any branch of Science/Mathematics / Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are the final year.

5) Post-BSc Integrated Master’s degree programs in Engineering / Technology (4-year program) and those who are in 2nd/3rd/4th year

6) Post-Diploma/10+2 Integrated Master’s degree program or Dual Degree program in Engineering / Technology (5-year program) and who are in the 4th/5th year.

7) Integrated M.Sc. or 5 years integrated B. S. /M. S. program and those who are in the final year.

8) B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch. equivalent examinations of Professional Societies, recognized by MHRD/UPSC/AICTE (e.g., AMIE by Institution of Engineers-India, AMICE by the Institute of Civil Engineers-India)

GATE 2023 Eligibility Criteria

GATE 2023 Exam Pattern                         

Exam Mode: It will be organized in online mode (computer-based test).

Papers: GATE examination will be conducted for 29 subjects/papers on January 4, 6, 11, and 12, 2023.

Type of Questions: In the examination, MCQs & Numerical type questions will be asked. Session: Examination will be held in two sessions, i.e. forenoon (9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon) & afternoon (2:00 PM to 5:00 PM).

Duration: Exam duration will be of three hours.

Attempt: Candidates can appear only in any one paper of GATE examination.

Number of Questions: Total of 65 questions will be asked in the examination.

Section Common in All GATE Papers: It is compulsory to attempt the General Aptitude (GA) section.

Marks: The question paper will be of 100 marks.

GATE 2020 entrance test will be conducted on February 5-6 and 12-13, 2023. The examination may be conducted in two sessions (i) Morning Session – 09:00 AM to 12:00 Noon and (ii) Afternoon Session – 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM.

GATE 2023 Admit Card

GATE 2023 entrance exam admit cards will be released on 3rd January 2023. Candidates have to use their enrolment id, password etc to download their admit cards.

 

GATE 2023 Answer Key

GATE 2023 entrance exam answer key will be released after a few days of completion of the GATE 2023 entrance examination. Students can match their answers with the released answer key and if needed they raise objections by paying the nominal fee.

 

GATE 2023 Results

1) GATE 2023 entrance exam results will be released on 17th March 2023, Monday.

2) The results will be valid up to 3 years from the time of results declared.

3) GATE 2023 Score Cards will be released after the release of GATE exam results

The scorecard will be made available only to qualified candidates. It will be released after the declaration of the result.

  • GATE score card 2023 will be valid for three years after the announcement of the result.
  • Candidates should download their scorecard from 17th March 2023.
  • If candidates require a soft copy of it after the last date, they have to pay Rs. 500 for obtaining the same till last week of December 2022. 

 

GATE 2023 Counselling

GATE 2023 counselling procedure will be Centralized Counselling for M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan (CCMT). Candidates get admission in NITs, IISc, through the counselling procedure which will be based on their scorecard. Students can also apply individually to the IITs when they release the admission notification. Counselling procedure will be scheduled after the results announcement.

When you can get back online, first check the status of your payment on the GATE application website. a) If the payment was received by GATE, you can continue the process of printing the application form. b) If the payment was not received by GATE, you have to start with the payment step again, to complete payment.
This happens because of some failure in internet transactions. You MUST initiate a fresh payment process on the GATE application website, and make the payment again. The money that was debited from your account in the first attempt will be credited to your bank account within seven working days. You will be charged only once.
