Located in Guwahati, in the Indian state of Assam, on L. N. Bezbaruah Road, Panjabari, is the BRM Government Law College, a government law school. In 1914, BRM Government Law College was founded. In 1903, Manik Chandra Baruah recommended the establishment of a law college in Assam to the British Government. Originally named for Sir Archdale Earle, the Chief Commissioner of Assam in British India at the time, it is the leading legal studies institution in Northeast India. Later it was named after Bishnuram Medhi, a freedom fighter and Indian politician.
It provides five years of combined B.A., LL.B., and LL.M. programs that are connected to Gauhati University. New Delhi's Bar Council of India (BCI) has recognized this college.
Law courses are available at the undergraduate and graduate levels at BRM Government Law College. The three-year, full-time Bachelor of Laws (LLB) program is the undergraduate course offered.
