Dakshina Bharat Hindi prachar Sabha" was established in the year 1918 by our beloved father of the nation Mahatma Gandhiji with the sole aim of propagating Hindi in Southern States. The first pracharak was none other than Devadas Gandhi son of Mahatma Gandhiji. Lal Bahadur Shastri while presenting the Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha Bill, 1964 in the Parliament considered the slogan of this organization as "Ek Rashtra Bhasha Hindi Ho Ek Hridaya Ho Bharat Janani" and it was also discussed that the institution is not only a university but also a higher place as the main objective of this institution is to create a feeling of unity, integrity and preservation of the nation.The Article 14 of the Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha Act, 1964 says “Institution of National Importance” (Declared by the Parliament as an Institution of National Importance by Act, 14 of 1964).
