The National Institute of Engineering (NIE), established in the year 1946, today stands one among top engineering colleges in the country that include IITs and NITs. It is ranked 9th among South India's top Private Engineering Colleges and also 17th rank across  India , as per survey conducted by The Week 2025.As per the survey of outlook magzine 2025 NIE stands at 11th rank among all India Private Institutions.NIE is an autonomous institution under VTU and approved by the Univercity Garants commission (UGC) and AICTE. NIE is also accredited by NAAC . All Undergraduate Programmes and three PG Programmes have been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi, under Tier-I.
