The District Hospital, Eluru has been established under the control of A.P. Vaidya Vidhana Parishad in the year 1952 and has been functioning since then providing Medical and Health services to the citizen of the District as well as the surrounding mandals of the neighboring Districts.The Hospital is expanded and renovated and Bed Strength was increased to 330 beds and subsequently the bed strength was raised to 400 beds.The Government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to establish a Government Medical College in every district. At present in the state of Andhra Pradesh, there are 11 Government Medical Colleges in 26 Districts.The Directorate of Medical Education, Andhra Pradesh has furnished a detailed proposal for establishing a Medical college at Eluru with a detailed estimate certified by APMSIDC.
