It is 6 km from the town of Tadepalligudem on Koderu-Nallajarla road in West Godavari district. The latitude and longitude of the college are 16.7801 N and 81.5285 E respectively.The college was established in the year 1966 with a donation from Sri Balakrishna Goenka, the founder of Food, Fats and Fertilizers Limited. The institution was named after the forefather of the chief donor Dwarakadas Rameshwar Goenka Government Degree College (DRG Government Degree College).Ours is the first Government Degree College in West Godavari district. The institution has been serving as a centre of learning in higher education and culture ever since. The college is affiliated to Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. This affiliation was shifted to Adikavi Nannaya University, Rajamahendravaram, East Godavari district in 2012 -13. The college opted for assessment by NAAC and it was accredited with grade B in 2007 in the first cycle. It was accredited with grade B again in 2012 -13 under the second cycle.
