Established under the Central Universities Act 2009, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya is a Central University of India situated in the state of Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. Previously known as GuruGhasidas University (GGU), it was formally opened on June 16, 1983, after being founded by an Act of the State Legislative Assembly. The renowned Satnami Saint Guru Ghasidas, who campaigned against social evils and injustice in society and championed the cause of the oppressed, is honored by the university's name
It is one of Chhattisgarh's biggest and oldest universities, providing a broad range of degrees in social sciences, engineering, and management, among other subjects. The Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya's Central Placement Cell (C.P.C.) works to assist and provide appropriate placement in reputable international corporations, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector. All Vishwavidyalaya students are eligible for need-based training, career counseling, and placement aid.
