Nalanda Medical College & Hospital (NMCH), located in Patna, Bihar, was established in 1970 by Dr. Vijay Narayain Singh, Dr. Madhusudan Das, and Dr. Shailendra Kumar Sinha, along with Shri Krishna Kant Singh, the former Education Minister of Bihar. The institution was founded with the vision of producing competent medical professionals to serve humanity.

Initially, the NMCH admitted 150 students, and in 1978, it was taken over by the Government of Bihar and recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI). Subsequently, the student intake was adjusted to 50, with selections made through various state and central government competitive examinations.
