Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) successfully conducted UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) 2017 on November 5. About 9.30 lakh registered candidates. The exam was conducted in 91 cities at 1700 exam centres. The candidates appeared in three papers, paper-I of General Awareness was common for all and paper-II and III were conducted out of 84 subjects selected by the candidates.
As per a press statement by the CBSE, approximately 4,09,439 male 5,19,557 female candidates and 3 transgenders registered for the exam. More than 75 per cent candidates appeared in the exam.
To help differently-abled candidates, 25 minutes additional time was provided for Paper–I and Paper–II while 50 minutes additional time was provided during paper III to such candidates.
The examination was conducted under the supervision of the Chairperson, Anita Karwal, Secretary, Anurag Tripathi and other senior officers of CBSE.

The Board had deployed 2091 observers and scores of invigilators. Now that the exam is over, CBSE will release the OMR sheet and answer keys. After the release, candidates will be given time to raise the objections, if any. After paying fees, the Board will cross-check the information.
Results are expected to release by January 2018.
