This year, UGC-NET is being conducted after a span of almost 10 months and it is a big question in the mind of the aspiring candidates whether UGC will bring about some changes in the trend of questions such as raising the level of difficulty.
As all the candidates very well know, the guidelines issued by the autonomous body for Paper-I reveal that UGC has already changed the pattern of examination (for Paper I especially).
Previously, there were 60 questions present and a student had to attempt 50 questions. So, there was a choice of 10 questions for the students. But, this time UGC has raised the level of difficulty and has decided to give 50 compulsory questions (without any choice).
UGC NET 2017 paper pattern:
The UGC-NET exam consists of three papers. Paper 1 is general paper (i.e. Teaching and Research Aptitude) while Paper II and Paper III are subject specific and all the questions carry 2 marks each. There is no negative marking for the incorrect answers.
Paper I:
One passage is given: In the unit related to Higher Education, questions on formal and distance education, value of education and structure of institutions and role of administration are of prime focus.
Other topics from which questions are asked in Paper I are:
An essential point to remember about this paper is that in order to qualify in this paper you need to score 40 per cent or 40 marks. However, if we see past results and cut-off one should target at least 70 per cent or 35 correct questions. So, a candidate must try to plan accordingly and attempt questions in a strategic manner and aim to score more than this.
