Choose the best Law course for a better career in the Law Profession

 LAW is a profession which needs a lot of determination and dedication. Many renowned personalities, past and present, holds a law degree and made Law as their profession. Freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, BR Ambedkar, Madhan Mohan Malaviya, Babu Rajendra Prasad etc., holds Law degree. Contemporary political personalities like PV Narasimha Rao, AB Vajpayee, LK Advani, P Chidambaram, Arun Jaitley, Kapil Sibal, Sushma Swaraj and many other politicians are renowned lawyers before entering politics. 


The law profession is not as fancy as it looks in movies or novels. A Lawyer should be studious, ever-learning, and hardworking in nature to excel in his profession. Many people opt for a law degree only after trying many other alternatives. But if a student plans his law course right after his intermediate level, he has more opportunities to excel in his law career.


Law courses

There are several law courses at UG and PG level in the Indian education system. One can choose a Law course according to his educational qualification.

5years Integrated Law courses

BA LLB, BSc LLB, BCom LLB, BBA LLB are five-year integrated courses after intermediate level (10+2). A student should pass with at least 50% of the score in his intermediate level and should appear for any Law Entrance exam to pursue integrated law courses in India.

LLB – Bachelor in Legislature Law

LLB is a three-year course to be pursued after any other graduation. At least 50% of the score in graduation and good score/rank in any LLB Entrance Exam is required to join LLB course.

LLM – Master in Legislature Law

LLM is a two-year postgraduate course after graduation in Law or Social Science with 55% of total marks. A law graduate has to appear for LLM Entrance exam for admission in LLM course.

Diploma Courses in Law

There are several diploma courses in law available in India. Some diploma courses require an intermediate level, while some courses demand graduation, as a qualification. However, diploma courses give knowledge in only a particular subject of law. Hence, opportunities are narrow, for these courses compared to graduate courses in Law.

The demand for Law is ever ending. As long as mankind is alive on earth, there is no harm to a Law career. Law profession contains vast opportunities. There are several opportunities to excel in a law career.

As an Advocate in court

Practising law in court is a basic and general ambition of any law student. A fresh lawyer has to gain some experience by doing internships under senior Lawyers before practising law in court, on this own. Before that, a lawyer has to qualify the bar council exam to start his practice in court.

Judicial/Civil services (Judges)

Judges play a key role in the Judiciary system. They deliver the final verdict on certain issues after hearings from lawyers. High courts conduct State Judicial services examination to recruit Judges. Judges get regular salaries on par with Government officials. A judge can go up to becoming chief justice in any state High Courts or even in Supreme Court of Indian by the time of his retirement. This is the most secured law career.

Corporate Lawyer

Every corporate house has some judicial litigation attached to their businesses. To handle those judicial affairs, companies appoint corporate lawyers. Corporate lawyers make good fortune in these roles, as this is a high paid law career.

Law Firms

Judicial services have turned into corporate business entities, these days. There are several law firms which offer judicial services to corporate companies and individuals. There is a great demand for talented lawyers in these firms.

As Academicians

There is a great need for academic faculty in several Law schools. Law academicians are well paid for their services in Best law schools in India. Many senior and experienced lawyers make this as their law career.
