List of MBA Entrance Exams

Management field in India has gone up a whole new level after the announcement of programmes like ‘Start-Up India’ and ‘Make in India’ which in turn increased the interest in MBA Courses. Vast career opportunities have being sprouting up in the fields of Marketing, Finance, and HR etc. There are various state level and national level management entrance exams which are conducted by various universities or boards. These entrance exams act as pathway to get admissions in various MBA or management courses offered by Universities/Colleges in India.

1) Management Aptitude Test (MAT)

Conducting body: All India Management Association (AIMA)

About: Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standard entrance exam which is conducted since 1998 for admission to MBA and allied programmes. MAT is an entrance exam which is conducted four times a year February, May, September and December. Govt. of India, Ministry of HRD approved MAT as a national level test in 2003. Any B-School - national or international - can consider MAT Score as an admission input based on the Score Cards issued to the candidates.

2) Common Admission Test (CAT)

Conducting body: Indian Institutes of Management (IIM)

About: Common Admission Test (CAT) is a management aptitude test conducted once in every year by the IIMs to evaluate and shortlist candidates for the PG management programme. It is a Computer Based Test (CBT) i.e. Online Test available for interested and eligible candidates.

3) Common Management Admission Test (CMAT)

Conducting body: All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)

About: Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national level entrance examination conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) every year as per the directions of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The CMAT is a three hour Computer Based Test (CBT) i.e. Online Test which is conducted to select suitable graduate candidates for admission in all Management programs.

4) Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT)

Conducting body: XLRI - Xavier School of Management

About: XLRI has been conducting XAT on an all India level to select the most appropriate students for management education. The XAT score is considered for admission by more than 150 B-Schools across India.

5) NMAT BY GMAC

Conducting body: Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC)

About: The NMAT by GMAC is an entrance exam which opens doors to the leading management programmes in India. The entrance exam is used for admissions to some of the leading graduate business programmes in India. The NMAT by GMAAC has become a Computer Based Test (CBT) i.e. Online Mode in the 2009. In many colleges and universities in India NMAT by GMAC score is valid.

6) ICFAI Business School Admission Test (IBSAT)

Conducting body: ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IBS)

About: IBSAT is an entrance test conducted by The ICFAI Foundation For Higher Education, which is a deemed university for students seeking admission to the MBA / PhD programs of IBS Hyderabad. IBSAT is an online aptitude test i.e. Computer Based Test (CBT)  which is conducted for 2 hours duration and is aimed at testing the applicant’s ability in quantitative techniques, data interpretation, data adequacy, vocabulary, analytical reasoning and reading comprehension

7) Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT)

Conducting body: Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi (IIFT)

About: IIFT was set up in 1963 by the Government of India as an autonomous organisation to help professionalise the country's foreign trade management and increase exports by developing human resources, analysing and disseminating data and conducting research. Admissions to the institute are done through IIFT written test following with GD, Essay Writing and Interview.

8) Andhra Pradesh Integrated Common Entrance Test (AP ICET)

Conducting body: Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati

About: AP ICET 2017 is a common entrance exam conducted by Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati on behalf of APSCHE.  AP ICET is conducted for admissions into MBA and MCA courses offered by State universities and professional colleges present in Andhra Pradesh state.

9) Telangana State Integrated Common Entrance Test (TS ICET)

Conducting body: Kakatiya University, Warangal

About: TS ICET 2017 is a common entrance exam conducted by Kakatiya University, Warangal on behalf of TSCHE.  TS ICET is conducted for admissions into MBA and MCA courses offered by State universities and professional colleges present in Telangana state.

10) Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (Karnataka PGCET)

Conducting body: Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA)

About: Karnataka PGCET is a post graduate common entrance test conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). The entrance exam is conducted for admissions into post graduate programs like M.E./M.Tech/M.Arch and MCA/MBA fields offered by the state universities and colleges present in Karnataka State.

11) Karnataka Management Aptitude Test (KMAT)

Conducting body: Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association

About: KMAT is an entrance test which was conducted by Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA). KMAT is the gateway to B-schools in Bangalore and Karnataka. KMAT 2017 is an All India exam that will be held in more than 10 cities all across the country and is open to candidates from all parts of India and Abroad.

12) Kerala Management Aptitude Test (Kerala - KMAT)

About: KMAT Kerala is the state level entrance test conducted by University of Kerala for admission to MBA programs offered by various management colleges and B-schools in Kerala.

13) Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET)

Conducting body: Anna University

About: TANCET is a state level entrance examination conducted by Anna University on behalf of Tamil Nadu state government for admissions into post graduate programmes M.B.A, M.C.A, and M.E/M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan offered in the Anna University and other engineering colleges for government quota and seats voluntarily surrendered by the colleges in Tamil Nadu state.

14) Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE)

About: OJEE is a state level entrance examination in Odisha state which is conducted by the state government for admissions in to the fields of engineering, medical and management offered by the private and government institutions and colleges present in Odisha state. It also offers lateral entries for the courses in engineering, medical, pharmacy, technology and also allows the entry into Masters Degree in MCA, MBA, M.Pharma, M.Arch/M.Plan, M.Tech etc.

15) West Bengal Joint Entrance Management Aptitude Test (WB JEMAT)

Conducting body: Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal (MAKAUTWB)

About: JEMAT is a state level entrance test conducted by the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology. This entrance test is held every year for admission to the MBA/MHA/AICTE approved PG Diploma programmes offered by the Management Institutions of the State (both government and private). This test is conducted by MAKAUTWB on behalf of the State Government as per the guidelines framed by AICTE.

16) AIMS Test for Management Admissions (ATMA)

Conducting body: Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS)

About: AIMS Test for Management Admissions (ATMA) 2018 is a national level entrance test conducted by Association of Indian Management Schools four times every year to get admissions into the post graduate management courses MBA, PGDM, PGDBA, MCA, MCM etc. The aim of the test is to measure comprehension skills, verbal and numerical reasoning etc of the candidate. The entrance test is conducted in the month of February, May, June and July every year.
