In 2000, Thiru. T.S.R. Khannaiyann, a renowned industrialist and philanthropist, of the Hindusthan Educational Trust, founded the Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology (HiCET) in Coimbatore. One of the top technological institutes, HiCET uses innovative teaching and learning methods to instil quality and values in students' education for their overall growth. The University Grants Commission recognizes the institution under Sections 2(f) and 12B. It is an independent institution that is permanently associated with Anna University in Chennai for the majority of its programs, with approval from the AICTE and the Indian government accredited by the National Board of Accreditation and awarded an "A++" grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. The Institute is the Nodal Center for the Smart India Hackathon and is placed 146^th  in the India Today Ranking. 

According to Education World Ranking 2021-22, the institute is still ranked 1^st  in the nation (National Rank: 31). Library- Offering continuous teaching and learning environments for all fields of Engineering, Management, Science, and Technology to all the teaching, learning, and research fraternity, the Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology Library spans a total carpet area of 2020 sq. mt spread over with excellent seating arrangements for 300 persons. Transport- The well-managed transportation services provided by Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology ensure the safety of both staff and students. To provide staff and students from diverse locations in and around the Coimbatore district with a means of transportation, the college operates 85 buses on 14 distinct routes.
