GATE 2018 - Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is National level entrance examination which is very popular test in India which is conducted for the students who aspired to get admission into Master’s Degree Course offered by the top reputed universities and colleges in India.

GATE 2018 is popular entrance test which is for the students who are in their final semester of engineering under graduate course or students who have passed the under graduate course in engineering field. The entrance test is a pathway for the students to get admissions in atop reputed colleges and universities to pursue their Master’s Degree.

  • GATE 2018 was going to be held by IIT Guwahati after 8 years. IITG organized the GATE entrance test in 2010 before this.
  • IIT Guwahati has released the GATE 2018 Poster Notice. 
  • GATE 2018 Online Applications will start from1st September 2017, Friday.
  • GATE 2018 Exam Dates are released 3rd, 4th, 10th & 11th February 2018 (Saturdays and Sundays).

GATE 2018 Application Form

  • The Submission of Online Applications for GATE 2018 will begin from 1st September 2017, Friday.
  • The Last date for Application Form Online Submission is 5th October 2017, Thursday.

GATE 2018 Registration Procedure

1) To register for GATE 2018 entrance examination, candidates need the following

  • Valid e-mail address
  • Mobile Number

2) Students should note that only one person can register with one e-mail address.

3) Once registered, candidate receives a GOAPS Enrolment ID.

Fill the GATE 2018 Application Form

1) Login using the GOAPS enrolment id and password

2) Fill the Application form with required information and choose a city for exam centre.

3) Choose the paper which to the candidate intends to give the exam.

 4) Upload the necessary documents along with photograph and signature/thumb impression.

5) Pay the application fees as mentioned below by Debit Card/Net Banking/e-challan.

6) Fill the Application form with required information and choose a city for exam centre from GATE 2018 Exam Cities List.

GATE 2018 Application Form Corrections

Corrections in Applications will be allowed from 2nd week of October 2017. In case, if any mistake has committed by the candidate in application then, he/she has to send an email subjecting “Correction in data (Enrollment Number)” along with the document proof.

Correction will be allowed in the fields like Name of the candidate, Date of Birth, Name of Parent / Guardian, Year of Qualifying Degree etc.

GATE 2018 Eligibility Criteria

1) Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology (after 10+2/Diploma/B.Sc) and those who are in final year can also apply.

2) Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture (5 year course) and those who are in final year.

3) Bachelor’s Degree in Science (after 10+2/Diploma).

4) Master’s degree in any branch of Science/Mathematics / Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are final year.

5) Post-BSc Integrated Master’s degree programs in Engineering / Technology (4 year program) and those who are in 2nd/3rd/4th year

6) Post-Diploma/10+2 Integrated Master’s degree program or Dual Degree program in Engineering / Technology (5 year program) and who are in 4th/5th year.

7) Integrated M.Sc. or 5 year integrated B. S. /M. S. program and those who are in final year.

8) B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch. equivalent examinations of Professional Societies, recognized by MHRD/UPSC/AICTE (e.g., AMIE by Institution of Engineers-India, AMICE by the Institute of Civil Engineers-India)

GATE 2018 Exam Pattern                          

1) The GATE 2018 entrance test is going to be Online Test i.e. Computer based Test.

2) There will be a total of 65 questions will be given in the exam.

3) GATE 2018 entrance exam is going to be for a total of 100 marks.

4) Total duration given for the exam is 3 Hours.

5) Question paper consists of both Multiple Choice and Numerical Answer Questions.

6) Marks will be deducted for every wrong answer in multiple choice questions.

7) Every paper consists of a section of General Aptitude with 15 marks and the remaining marks will be for Paper with Core subjects.

GATE 2018 entrance test will be conducted on 3rd, 4th, 10th & 11th February 2018 Saturday and Sunday. The examination may be conducted in two sessions (i) Morning Session – 09:00 AM to 12:00 Noon and (ii) Afternoon Session – 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM.

 GATE 2018 Admit Card

GATE 2018 entrance exam admit cards will be released on 5th January 2018, Friday. Candidates have to use their enrolment id, password etc to download their admit cards.

GATE 2018 Answer Key

GATE 2018 entrance exam answer key will be released after a few days of completion of the GATE 2018 entrance examination. Students can match their answers with the released answer key and if needed they raise objections by paying the nominal fee.

GATE 2018 Results 

1) GATE 2018 entrance exam results will be released on 17th March 2018, Saturday.

2) The results will be valid up to 3 years from the time of results declared.

3) GATE 2018 Score Cards will be released after the release of GATE exam results.

GATE 2018 Counselling

GATE 2018 counselling procedure will be Centralized Counselling for M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan (CCMT). Candidates get admission in NITs, IISc, through the counselling procedure which will be based on their score card. Students can also apply for individually to the IITs when they release the admission notification. Counselling procedure will be scheduled after the results announcement.

Q1. Can I use one e-mail address to fill multiple application forms?

Ans. NO, one e-mail address can be used to submit only one application form.

Q2. My power/internet connection failed during the application process, what do I do?

Ans. Please login to the GATE 2018 application website https://appsgate.iitr.ac.in again and continue the application process

Q3. Only SC/ST/PwD candidates have been asked to upload the category certificates. What about the OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates? Do they have to upload the category certificate too?

Ans. NO. Category certificate is required only to decide the rate for the application fee.

Q4. My power/internet connection failed during online payment. What do I do?

Ans. When you can get back online, first check the status of your payment on the GATE application website.

a) If the payment was received by GATE, you can continue the process of printing the application form.

b) If the payment was not received by GATE, you have to start with the payment step again, to complete payment.

Q5. My bank account has been debited (money taken out), but GATE Application website says that the payment has not been received. What do I do?

Ans. This happens because of some failure in internet transactions. You MUST initiate a fresh payment process on the GATE application website, and make the payment again. The money that was debited from your account in the first attempt will be credited to your bank account within seven working days. You will be charged only once. Any excess/unaccounted debits will be returned to you.

Q6. Do I have to send the print-out of the application form?

Ans. No.

Q7. When and how will I know the status of my application?

Ans. You can check the status of your application by logging into GOAPS website.

Q8. Which identification card numbers shall be accepted in application form?

Ans. Only numbers of the following identification cards shall be accepted: Passport, PAN card, Voter ID, Aadhaar UID, college ID, Employee Identification Card for Indian candidates and for International candidates, ONLY a valid Passport/ Government issued ID/College ID/ Employee ID/Driving License shall be accepted as the recognized identification.
