The Jharkhand Academic Council has been in existence since the year 2003, after the Bihar School Examination Board Act, 1952 (adapted as Jharkhand Secondary Examination Board Act, 2000) Bihar Sanskrit Education Board Act, 1981, And Bihar Board of Madrasa Education Board Acts, 1981 were repealed. The JAC was established to standardize the education policies in the state, and its jurisdiction includes prescribing school syllabi, formulating and implementing academic policies, and regulating affiliated schools.
