20 answer sheets of Inter exams spoiled

JANGAON (WARANGAL DT.): Over 20 answer sheets of Intermediate first year papers were completely damaged when the speed post van carrying the sheets met with an accident killing the driver on the spot late Sunday night.

The speed post van carrying the answer sheets of Intermediate examination was on its way to Hyderabad. Around 11.30 p.m., the vehicle was hit by a huge container vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

Driver dies on spot

The van driver P. Jagadish (48) died on the spot as the vehicle turned turtle in the milieu. The bundles of answer sheets were thrown out of which one bundle openeed. The answer sheets were strewn all over the place and blood from the deceased driver's body had spread all over the answer sheets.

Speaking to The Hindu, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr. Nagaraju said the svan was carrying 141 bundles each containing 442 answer sheets. Only one bundle got loosened and 22 answer sheets were damaged in the incident.

“Officials from Intermediate Board took all the bundles and damaged sheets with them. There is no truth that answer sheets are missing,” he said.

The answer sheets were related to first year Economics subject and belong to students who appeared for the examination in Adilabad and Warangal districts. They were being transported to Hyderabad for valuation.

Anxious parents rushed to the accident spot and tried to contact police to know the fate of their children, but in vain.

The deceased, a Motor Mail Service driver, who belonged to Sultanabad of Karimnagar was a resident of Julywada, Hanamkonda.
