350 Tri Valley students were given admission in other US universities

Almost eight months after the closure of the Tri Valley University, California owing to alleged visa fraud, 350 former students of the institution were given admission in other US universities as they were found not guilty of colluding with authorities arrested for the visa fraud. The students were issued new I-20s after verification of their credentials. The US federal officers have, however, not revealed the names of the universities that have admitted the students. The Tri Valley University had about 2,000 Indian students with a majority of them from Andhra Pradesh. Following the closure of the university by the US federal authorities, many students were forced to undergo investigation over their alleged involvement in the fraud. About 12% of the students came back to the country fearing arrest, while others remained in the US demanding the federal authorities to give them admission in other state recognized universities in California. G Pavan Kumar, a student of the university who stayed back in US to clear charges on his name, said that a majority of his fellow classmates are still trying to negotiate with the Indian High Commission and US federal authorities to get admission. “They have neither jobs nor a valid visa. Only if they get admission they will be able to stay in the country,” he said
