AICTE urged to redesign curriculum

State Engineering Faculty Association (SEFA) urged All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to redesign curriculum which would suit to the needs of industries and ensure employment opportunities for students. The Association has also sought the intervention of the Council for the protection of interest of faculty members. The association members have recently met AICTE chairman S.S. Maantha who came to Kakinada to participate in an academic programme.

The Association -Srikakulam wing convener and principal of Sivani Engineering College Dr.Dasari Vijayakumar and co-convener and principal of Sri Vaishnavi College of Engineering Vasanta Rajendra Prasad explained the difficulties of faculty. They explained deliberations to the media on Friday in Srikakulam. According to them, several SEFA members expressed concern over lack of job opportunities for many students as there was no link between curriculum and needs of industry. They strongly opposed termination of faculty members from many colleges without prior notice.
