CAT 2016

CAT (Common Admission Test) is a national level examination conducted by the IIMs (Indian Institute of Management) based on the policy of rotation. This is a computer based test comprised in the quantitative ability, verbal ability, data interpretation and logical reasoning. The CAT score is being followed by the IIMs, IITs, NITs, Faculty of Management Study and Indian Institutes of Science.

All those institutes offer the Postgraduate Business Administration Programme through the CAT examination. The CAT 2016 will be conducted during the November month of year 2016 but the notification of the examination and other essential details will be issued in the July 2016.

CAT 2016 Eligibility Criteria:

Before filling the online application form the candidates must have ensure the eligibility criteria as following:

The candidates must have passed the graduation degree in any stream.
The candidates must have secured the marks at least 50% or equivalent to CGPA (45% in case of SC/ST and Differently Abled).
The candidates appearing graduation can also apply for the CAT 2016 but they must clear the graduation in same year with given qualifying criteria.
Reservation of Seats
As per the government rule of India, 15% seats will be reserved for the SC, 7.5% for the ST candidates, 27% seats will be reserved for the OBC under Non-Creamy Layer candidates and 3% seats will be reserved for the persons with disabilities. The above percentile criterion is a subject to change as per the year by the government. To claim the reservation the candidates must apply during the registration. After the registration the candidates cannot avail the chance of reservation or cannot change the categories. A supportive document will be required for the evidence of their categories.

Registration for CAT 2016:
The CAT 2016 Application Form will be available during the month of August 2016 through the online mode only on the official website of the CAT 2016 The official website is www.iimcat.ac.in on which the registration form will be announced. The registration will go on till the last week of September 2016. At the time of registration the candidates must fill the required details in the form and select the three test cities from the drop down menu. The candidates will be allotted any one of their preferred centres after the last date of registration. The admit card will be issued through the official site and candidates may get their admit card from mid of October 2016 to till the date of examination.
