Cell phones banned in Telangana schools, colleges

Adilabad/Hyderabad: The class rooms are now mobile free zones. The Telangana government has taken a bold and surprising decision to ban the usage of mobile phones in educational institutions.

According to the sources, the reason behind this sudden move is the rise in misuse of cell phones in schools. From now on wards neither the students nor teachers are allowed to carry mobiles into classrooms.

Commissioner of school education, Telangana, issued the orders to this effect on December 31, 2014. He has asked the district education officers and the regional joint director of school education to implement the instructions.

The order stated that “use of cell phones in educational institutions is prohibited” and that “neither teachers nor students should be permitted to carry mobiles in classrooms”.
