CUET UG 2023: The Central University of Andhra Pradesh (CUAP) uses the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores to admit candidates to its undergraduate (UG) programmes. Central University of Andhra Pradesh draws admissions from students from across the country and abroad. The university admits students in all its UG courses on the basis of CUET UG scores including BA Hons Political Science, BA in Retail Management and IT, BSc Hons Economics and BBA.
The university has introduced multidisciplinary education in all the four UG and seven PG programmes. The university ensures student participation, class discussion, role plays, seminar presentation, field visits, industry interaction and student involvement in commercial development for multidisciplinary education.
Out of 11 programmes at CUAP, as many as nine programmes are LOCF-based, while the the curriculum of BA Hons Political Science and BSc Hons Economics has been revised on the basis of LOCF and being implemented from the academic year 2021-22.
NEP 2020
In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the university has introduced two BVoc programmes with multiple entry-exit systems. The university has also adopted the Credit Transfer of SWAYAM online courses.
All the four UG programmes at the university are embedded with skill development inputs. The CUAP has one regional language programme in Telugu.
CUET UG
This year, the Central University of Andhra Pradesh received multiple applications for its BA and BSc programmes in the second edition of the entrance exam after the introduction of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) in 2022. The eligibility criteria to appear in the CUET UG 2023 exam and get admitted to the Central University of Andhra Pradesh was Class 12 or equivalent qualified in science, arts, commerce or other streams with 50 per cent aggregate marks.
Popular courses
The English language and literature programme is one of the many popular programmes at CUAP. Other popular programmes at the university are MA Telugu, BSc Hons Economics and MSc Economics programmes, BA Hons Political Science, BVoc and MBA in Tourism and Travel Management and BVoc in Retail Management and IT.
Scholarships
The Andhra Pradesh University has several scholarships for students of all categories belonging to various courses. The list of scholarships at CUAP includes Jnanbhumi scholarship.
Some post-matric scholarships under multiple schemes as available in the national scholarship portal including minority scholarship, scheduled caste, tribal scholarship, other backward caste scholarship, meritorious scholarship, single girl child scholarship, disabilities (physically challenged) scholarship, other state scholarship for the state students, INSPIRE UG and PG scholarship and other funding agency scholarships are also provided for the students of the university.
Hostel facilities
The university has well-maintained hostel facilities for both boy and girl students. These hostels offer basic amenities including beds, study tables, chairs, cupboards and fans to the hostel residents.
Additional facilities including Wi-Fi connectivity, common rooms, mess or canteen services, indoor game facilities and 24-hour security are available. Hostel rules and regulations are in place to maintain discipline and make sure a conducive studying environment is present, a statement on the CUAP brochure said.
CUAP history
The Central University of Andhra Pradesh was born out of a promise made by the union government to fulfill the aspirations of people of Andhra Pradesh on the eve of bifurcation of the erstwhile composite state of Andhra Pradesh into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the university statement added. The university was established in 2018 in the district headquarter town of Anantapuramu in the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh.
