Done to focus on core concepts’: NTA releases revised JEE Main 2024 syllabus

JEE Main 2024: The NCERT has also removed or revised some of the chapters that were a part of the NEET UG 2023 syllabus. The specific chapters that were removed by NCERT have also been reduced for JEE Main 2024.

JEE Main 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the revised syllabus of JEE Main 2024 on Wednesday. The reduced syllabus is available at the official website — jeemain.nta.ac.in.

This time, there have been some chapters that have been completely removed from this year’s syllabus, and there are a few sub-topics that have been removed while the chapter has been retained.

As per the syllabus compared by indianexpress.com, these chapters have been removed from the JEE Main 2024 syllabus:

Mathematics
Mathematical inductions
Mathematical reasoning

Physics
Communication systems
Some topics from experimental skills

Chemistry
States of Matter
Surface chemistry
General principles and processes of isolation of metals
Hydrogen
S -block elements (alkali and alkaline earth metals)
Environmental chemistry
Polymers
Chemistry in everyday life

“Representations were received from various stakeholders regarding the deletion of some portions in the existing syllabus of Paper 1 (B.E./BTech) as the same was not being taught in their Class 12 board. In view of this, various state boards and CBSE were asked to compare their Class 11 and Class 12 syllabi of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with the existing syllabus of JEE Main. The inputs and the syllabus document available on the website were reviewed by a Committee.

“In the proposed syllabus, no new topic has been added. The portion that is neither being taught anywhere in the school board nor available in the latest book of NCERT has been deleted. The syllabus has been revised and reduced to focus on core concepts,” a senior NTA official told indianexpress.com.

Recently, the NCERT has also removed or revised some of the chapters that were a part of the NEET UG 2023 syllabus. The specific chapters that were removed by NCERT have also been reduced for JEE Main 2024.

Meanwhile, NTA has also released the complete schedule for JEE Main 2024. As per the schedule released by NTA, the registrations for session 1 started on November 1 and students will have time till November 30 to fill out their online application forms. The advance city intimation slip will be released by the second week of January 2024, and the admit cards will be out three days before the exam. The results for JEE Main 2024 will be released on February 12, 2024.

Registration for session 2 of JEE Main 2024 will begin on February 2 and candidates will have time till March 2, 2024 (9 pm) to fill the application form. The payment option will be available till 11:59 pm of March 2. The advance city intimation slip for session 2 will be released by the third week of March 2024, and the admit cards will be released three days before the exam. Session 2 exams will be conducted from April 1 till 15, 2024, and the result for session 2 will be declared on April 25, 2024.
