Eamcet arrangements in place

VIJAYAWADA: Arrangements are in place for the smooth conduct of the Engineering Agriculture Medicine Common Entrance Test (Eamcet) 2011 in 61 test centres under the Vijayawada Regional Centre, on May 22.

The number of students taking the test in the engineering stream has come down to 24,521 this year as against 28,599 last year. “This is in contrast to the increase in the number of aspirants for medical seats this year to 8,229 from 5,955 last year,” said Eamcet Regional Coordinator K. Mohana Rao at a press conference here on Wednesday.

Out of the 61 centres, 47 were for engineering students and 14 for agriculture and medicine students. In all, 2,000 persons would be involved in the conduct of the test, including 61 observers and 1,638 invigilators, he said.

An observers' meeting would be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday followed by allotment of centres. Route officers would deliver the trunk boxes containing question papers to the exam centres by 8.30 a.m. for engineering and by 12.30 p.m. for medicine.

No candidate would be allowed to enter the examination hall after even one minute after 10 a.m. for engineering stream and after 2.30 p.m. for medicine stream, he added.

Similarly, no candidate would be allowed to leave the examination hall before 1 p.m. for engineering and before 5.30 p.m. for agriculture and medicine stream. In case of emergency, candidates with proof of registration of Eamcet – 2011 application could write their test from any examination centre other than the allotted one within the purview of the specified regional centre. Without hall-tickets, the candidates would not be allowed to write their test. Candidates would be allowed to carry the hall-ticket, a ball point pen (blue or black), a sharpener, and an eraser. Pencil would be supplied at the centre.

Helpline

Stating that hall-ticket must be preserved till the time of admission into college, Mr. Rao asked students to call the helpline numbers: 0866-2582333/2584930 for further queries.
