EAMCET Case: AP Government Preparing Counters

The Andhra Pradesh government is working on ways to counter their Telangana counterpart's petition in the Supreme Court seeking extension of the deadline for EAMCET admissions.

The government, in its implead petition, will apprise the Supreme Court on how students are migrating to other states after being disappointed over the status of education, a senior official in the government said.

Officials are hopeful of a positive outcome from the Court. "We are hoping that the Court may not extend the deadline as requested by the T government. On the contrary, we think that the Court may advance the deadline by a month or month-and-a-half," the official said pointing out that the government was still finalizing the arguments to make in Court.

Meanwhile, the AP State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) has already begun efforts to complete the admission process without buying more time once the legal issues are resolved. The council is mulling commencing engineering classes without waiting for the second counseling to finish, an official told."We are planning to finish the process within 15 days once we get clarity," he added.
